Clean Deo vs. Antiperspirant?
Did you know antiperspirant uses aluminum to block sweat ducts? Sure it works, but aluminum is a heavy metal linked to serious health issues like neurodegeneration and breast cancer.
I've been battling a serious autoimmune disease this past year and I'm still heavily in the recovery phase. So I've been slowly educating myself and making changes to lessen my toxic load and allow my body to focus on healing.
I tried switching a few months ago without charcoal and reverted to antiperspirant. I bought the charcoal and gave it a go a month ago and haven't looked back! I was also worried about the body odour with the change and whether the deodorants might damage my clothing leaving a white residue. Happy to report - no issues with that at all! I’ve been gravitating towards the Clean Rose (when I hate flowery scents). I also tried the coconut (which I normally love). Completely surprised that I preferred Clean Rose to Coconut. I’m trying the lavender next as well as another brand. Will update you later on how that goes.
Before You Begin - Get some Charcoal
If you’re making the switch to a safer deodorant after years of using antiperspirant (Or more likely decades?! No judgement, this was most of us!), you’re going to want some charcoal to help speed up the process. You may have years of old product stuck in those sweat glands that could use some assistance leaving your body, otherwise you might start experiencing some undesired body odour. Charcoal acts like a magnet to speed up that process, as does sweating it out!

Need help choosing a scent?
The scents are not overpowering and none of them leave a white residue. If you’re like me, I was worried not only about smelling bad but also about ruining any of my clothes. Clean Rose turned out to be my favourite scent, and nobody was more surprised about that than me. I am not a flower fragrance girl!
1 — Clean Rose
Smells like a bouquet of fresh cut roses with notes of geranium and pepper tree berry.
2 — Fresh Coconut
Smells like tropical coconuts with sandalwood and sweet vanilla.
Great unisex scent.
3 — Soft Lavender
Soft soothing notes of lavender with a hint of sweet vanilla.
**It definitely isn’t overpowering like some lavenders can be.
4 — Crisp Sequoia
Inspired by sequoia trees. Smells musky with a woody blend of gernaium and vetiver.
Great unisex scent.
